We can empathise with all of you brides-to-be that have had to put their wedding planning on hold at the moment. Choosing your dream venue, flowers, and wedding dress are some of the most exciting decisions you’ll ever have to make.
Our team has worked extremely hard to be able to bring you virtual wedding dress appointments so that you can continue planning your special day. You can try on all of your favourite wedding dresses from Alta Costura in the comfort of your own home, while our experts will give you advice via Zoom. We will also send out bridesmaids dresses too.
We’ve already had amazing feedback on the virtual appointments which we have already done for our lovely brides. Are you interested in how the service works? Simply follow these steps below!
Step 1 – Choosing which dresses you would like to try on
Firstly, we have a chat on the phone from the shop. You can let us know what your dream dress looks like, and we can talk you through the designs we have in stock.
All of the stock is visible on our website. If you want more images of a particular dress, we can then send you more pictures, or talk via Facetime and show you the dresses in real time.
Then, the fun part….
You decide on the dresses you’d like to be delivered for you to try on (with no doubt you’ll be sitting by the window waiting for the delivery).
Step 2 – Payments and delivery process
We only need a security payment of £150 per dress, which is refundable on safe return of the sample dresses. (Please note the dresses can only be delivered to a non-smoking household).
The cost of the service is just £50 – this part is not refunded, and covers the costs of packing, delivery, staff time, and collection afterwards.
You tell us which day you’d like your dresses delivered (we suggest the day before your planned virtual appointment), and we bring them directly to your doorstep.
The special dresses will arrive in one or more dress bags with the other items boxed. They will all be hand delivered to your home.
Step 3 – your virtual appointment
Gather your special people together via Zoom, and have your virtual appointment! You can get as many of your friends as you would like on the call with you. We recommend putting on your favourite music, a glass of bubbly and scented candles can help make choosing your gown fun and memorable.
One of our team will happily join your Zoom meeting to offer advice and guidance throughout.
We will provide dress clips (to clip together excess fabric on a dress that’s too big), a couple of ‘try-on’ veils and headpieces to get the full effect, and a measuring kit.
Step 4 – measuring up
When you have found the dress you would like to order, You will need to measure yourself. We will provide a measuring kit, including tape measure and size charts in the box. There is a printed guide included, and we can also help by phone/Zoom.
After your appointment,. you pop it all back into the box, and we will collect it again at a pre-arranged time. We will then check them over, and refund your security deposit, less the £50 service fee. If you are buying a gown, we will adjust the deposit refunded accordingly.
Step 5 – your dresses are on their way
Sit back and relax. Your wedding dress is on order!
Wedding dresses typically take 4-6 months to be made and delivered to the shop (sooner on Rush Cut services). We will advise you when your dress arrives, and it can be collected from the shop. We also offer a full alterations service at the shop, or via several recommended seamstresses in the local area.
We can also provide ‘ready to wear’ dresses that can be purchased without ordering, straight from the rail.
